Stage one
Well first part is done, I have found a course that starts mid semester. - WAHOO. This is good news as most seem to start only at the begining of the year!
As all of you will not know I've decided to quit uni. Everytime I think of it I have the song from Grease going through my head "Beauty school drop out, go back to highschool." Roflmao - it's very annoying actually. I'm not going back to high school though, just to TAFE [for those of you who are not of aussieness - tafe is between highschool and university - kind of like collage maybe?!?]
So why am I a uni school drop out you ask, didn't I like my uni course? - And the answer is this, Yes I loved my uni course I love writing and I really did enjoy the subjects. But when I sat down and looked at everything that has gone on and everything that could go on - I had to ask myself what am I going to get out of this course - where will I be when I finish it. The honest answer was no better off really, I'd just be an out of work uni graduate vs an out of work uni student.
I want to change my life and the biggest thing i need to change is my job prospects. So with this in mind I have gone back to find something that I can do, like and have a higher possiblity of getting SOME stort of job out of.
I'm going to do Graphic Design [if I get in of course that is!]
Now I have to put together a portfoli [gulp] put in my application [gulp] and wait to see if I get in [gulp]
That's pretty much one of the BIG things that have been going on from me lately. My family is being more suportive then I ever expected them to be, I thought they would try to talk me into finishing uni as it's kind of the family joke on how I never finish anything I start ... [gulp]
But I know for the 99.9% of it I'm doing the right thing and that I will feel better about myself in a years time becasue I have achieved something!
Now with that out of the way - LAYOUTS!
:)
This is the rak layout I had to do .... It's for a fellow Pea -Deborah [tami974] of her little boy Jurij - isn't he adroable?!? And yes it's in Italian! How cool is that I don't think I'll ever have a chance to use Italian on any of my own layouts :) I feel all multi-cultural now [I know I'm a dork!] I used Dani Mogstad's Cabanaboy kit, Round n Round Stitches and her button and blooms flowers - avaliable at www.designbydani.com
Next up a cute little layout of my nieces :) Useing Tracy Ann Robinsons Hippy Me kit and her Random Pockets set, avaliabel at www.scrapbook-bytes.com. Also have used Jan Crowleys Alphas from www.thedigichick.com and Dianne Rigdone's brushes from her Simply Mavelous kit at www.shabbyelements.com [and btw Di is having a great speacial I'd check out her blog if I where you! [ www.shabbyelements.com/blog ]
And Lastly.... From Manda and Robins Jellybean Sprout kit at www.sweetshoppedesigns.com I have also used one of the flowers from Dani Mogstads Blooms and buttons set - see link above.
Well that's it for now - thanks for stopping by.

YAY for you! I really applaud you making these changes rather than just drifting through. And just so that you know, TAFE is totally equal to Uni, just more PRACTICAL! And look - you scrapped some more! hugs you

Peta, your post sounds so happy and positive! All the best and I truely think you will be suited to graphic design!
Sounds like a natural move to me. Your layouts are always beautifully designed, and it's easy to see you have talent in that area... a lot of it :)
Good luck. My brother and SIL are both graphic designers. They love it.
