Procrastinating

Anyone want to write my assignment for me? - Although you will need to know what my novel is about ... Could be hard! - I'm actually looking at the importance of humor in the novel structure - tell me your funny books...

now to find those assignment fairies that will write my assignment for me - really could do with my main character from my book right now. [my book is fantasy and funny enough has a fairy in it!!]

I want humor in it - but sarcastic humor! :) [cause that's my kind of humor LOL]

Lest this seem daunting to the potential humorous essayist, let me point out that sometimes the most successful humor writing comes out of a simple, everyday experience.

Another technique that humorous essayists love to employ is the art of self-deprecation.

"If authors are going to poke fun at other people, ideas or events, they must be equally willing to poke fun at themselves," says Tara Rae Gunter, assistant editor at Orion magazine.

A piece that's simply slapstick seldom sells. [I hate slap stick humor - so won't find any of that in my stuff]

Author Leigh Anne JashewayBryant (Don't Get Mad! Get Funny!) believes that a good humorous essay appeals to both the body and the head.

Different editors gravitate toward different types of humor; however, they all caution writers against trying to be funny. "It's either in you or not," says Betsy Robinson, managing editor of Spirituality ir Health and author of Girl Stories and Game Plays. "Write serious, and if you're a funny person, it'll be funny. Usually, when someone labors to be funny, it dies."

Mark Twain once wrote, "Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand."
