Road Test Waffles

don't ask me for I don't know.

I've been in a bit of a mood this week. What none of you are surprised?

My new kit expectations didn't live up to my dreams so that was kind of a blow. I love the feedback I have gotten but I guess I just expected it to walk more out of the store then what it has. Other then having a sale or scrapping more with it I don't think there is much more I can do, and might just be a matter of expecting that it and moving onto the next kit.

My gallery efforts have kind of been 'less' then normal... Okay so you give a girl 10 pluss comments on a non praise thread posting and she kind of gets use to it... turn around the next week and not even get ONE comment on a layout... [that I have since deleted cause it was just to depressing!] Kinda bites.

I will also say a little off the cuff comment I made the other day is something that stuck with me this week... the fact that in the whole time I've done the whole digi think I've never been asked to be a guest ct member for anyone!! Left me with a very over blown self pity mode of "no one wants me" rofl. Did I ever mention I'm a complete and utter tool?! - no - well I am! CMRU

I've had serious toot envy this week. I hope it goes away soon.

Another thing was the whole digi racers blog thing.... kinda fell on it's ars - but on the positive side, I had a couple of laughs with the girls and I got a little kick out of it all - and if anything the banner and blinkie I made I am actually quite proud of... they where pretty cool.

I was having a big old whinge fest to the poor boy today - he doesn't get most of it cause he has no idea what half of it is all about. But he did slap me over the head and ask why I have to be so down on myself. That I have actually achieved so much that so many other people just dream about...

He is right I know it. Pity Parties are no fun. So I have to work on my whole reaction/feeling/expectations and what I want to get out of this whole digital scrapbooking thing - the work I do - the layouts I make - the environments I participate in. Do what is HEALTHY emotional and mentally for me. Sometimes I get to caught up in the crap and I need to start being more aware of this and learn to wade my way through to the 'good' stuff... the stuff that doesn't have me sulking in the corner. ie look at the positives and not the negatives.

Sounds easy typing this out but I think it just might be one of the hardest things to do... I'm sure in a months time I'll be feeling this way again - but lets hope not!!

In the mean time I'm road testing gallerys around the place, I've decided to 'consolidate' my efforts and find the best places to 'pimp my stuff' as it where.. and I'm actually not even talking comments wise i'm talking more views wise...

So what do you want to get out of digital scrapbooking?

I know what you mean, I get down a bit when I see all the CT blinkies people have, but then I remind myself why I scrap - it's for myself, so Em can look back and know what was happening when I took that photo etc. A recent article in a magazine helped me remember that.

I am fairly new to the didgiscrapping world. I scrapped for a while before even posting anything because I was afraid to put myself out there - and you're right, it can be so disheartening when you don't even get one comment on a layout you personally love. I always remind myself that I do this for myself and my family. When my mum in Australia receives an album of scrapbook pages of her grandson on the other side of the world and is just ecstatic, I remind myself that this is why I do it. If I get a good comment on a layout then it's the icing on the cake, not the cake itself. And we all know that the cake is the best part. :)

Why do I scrap? For a long time I thought it was just for my family... and it is really for my family, I have photos of myself as a child but no idea what was happening when they were taken, my Mum can't really remember and my dad is no longer here... I don't want that for my kids. I love how excited they get when they see layouts with their photos. The best praise ever is seeing their faces at that moment, and when dh says what an awesome job I have done.
But I have realised that I also scrap for me. It is my creeative outlet. I love that I am creating something permanent and lasting, when so much of what I do on a daily basis is repetitive and never ending... i.e. it all has to be done again tomorrow LOL. It is my relaxation... and I have made some great friends that I never would have without scrapping.

All that aside I totally get what you are saying. It is so EASY to get caught up in the drama of the scrapping community. And it hurts when something you have poured your heart and soul into is not recieved as you expected. Sure I scrap for me and my family... but its nice to get praise in the gallery as well.

Now Hun, after Christmas you blogged about making drink cup inserts for your nieces, and Tegan carrying the cup everywhere with her, on the bad days remember that, because I can guarantee that is what TEGAN and all your other nieces are going to treasure. THAT is what really matters! But it is so easy to loose sight of.
Love ya Hun :)

Peta, ya know I love your stuff, love your style (remember, I wanna scrap like Peta when I grow up!) I just don't make it to the galleries much, and I even deleted most of my gallery at the new drama central cos it is just SO not what I'm scrapping for. I'm scrapping for my family and for myself, and I keep reminding myself that I don't need to be validated by a bunch of women so wholly unconnected to me. hugs from me (and a kick in the pants if you need it LOL)
